The vertical lines prominent in this rug, resulting from the Navajo “raised outline” weaving technique, make the colors and “flower” shapes of this design darken or lighten or change altogether when viewed from different angles. The wefts hand-painted in a myriad colors, together with silk yarn inlaid in the hearts of the flowers, create a shimmer of light.
